Quantum Pushbacks – a living record

This is a living post, that will be updated as and when I hear a new ‘pushback’ as to why an individual feels that they don’t need to engage with Quantum Security Risk.

I’m deliberately not going to go back through history and scrape every thought together. I’ll just post them as I come across them, going forward. So initially the list is going to be short.

I don’t need to do anything. All my applications, devices and OSs will automatically support all this ‘quantum’ stuff automagically. Err, probably not. And even if they did, do you think perhaps that the overall ecosystem of your IT needs managing? Do you not have any interfaces, points of legacy pain and so on? This stuff is all going to magically align and fix itself on the same day? And work?

I had a learned colleague liken all attempts at communicating Quantum Risk to that of attempting to sell magic beans.

Same guy said he’d asked chatGPT and it told him everything was fine for the next 20-30 years. I said, “you have just asked Skynet if we should prepare for judgement day”
